May not be the valve train, I had the same problem and it was loud! It sounded like a burnt valve, or dead lifter. I did evrything short of removing the vavle cover to take a look. The strange thing is that the noise was louder when I took the oil filler cap off, which than led me to believe...

I posted on the LOST board a while back that the PH8A a ford filter works just fine, yiu may need to trim the plastic funnel that collects the oil that drips down the engine a little. Al

Tell Rusty (who I am mad at) that you want a set that he made for Jeepin Al, the arms are adjustable and articulate, much better for rear flex. The boots are simple shock boots over the threaded portion of the arm. Al I am having so much trouble with Cardomain pictures.

Push the lever to the side as far as it goes, if you don't you will have a hard time engaging, and sometimes I need to be rolling just a little to get it to go into 4 lo. I think it maybe the nature of the beast. Al

The lever is still attached? The transfer case is (I believe) controlled by a caple, check to see if the cable is broken, or fell off the transfer case. Al
