if youre frustrated with trying to find good quality rack for your 02-07 libby, youre in luck! I am on my 3rd roof rails, I buy online and try out then return. i stumbled across an ebay seller that is selling steel rack bars that are exact replicas of the 280$ thrule versions. I dont know...

So after exhausting failed attempts to create a roof rack and roof basket system that was itself, under the maximum weight limited of the stock roof rails, i started buying racks online and testing them out. I tried the 2 on amazon that folks say are cheap and sturdy, but they didnt have locks...

Took the libby up to mid Michigan last week. Took her twice on the Denton Creek trail, south of Houghton Lake, super elaborate snow mobile trails. Got to crawl up some sand dunes and splash up some mud in the wetland areas. Fun all around.

so the bolt fits the threads of the 2 holes from where the hooks would be? and you just add strength by washers and a nut inside? or are the 2 holes from the towhook just plain and dont have threads?

I dont see any washers on your setup.. so, after drilling the holes through the ball mount, i put the bolt through the washer then mount hole, and it will catch the threads of the hole where my tow hooks should be? you mentioned nuts, not sure where those go. and where does this steel plate go?

so it looks like this mod goes straight into the frame and you dont need a front hitch? (i was thinking there was welding onto the hitch itself)

can you link me? i cant find anything about that mod. Curt makes a front hitch Curt Manufacturing 31022 Front Mount Receiver Hitch : Amazon.com : Automotive but it has those welded on d rings. you think i can weld 2" receiver slots on each slide and slide in 2 of these? Curt Tow Strap Mount

also, a side note: most bumper baskets wont work for the KJ... either get one with a 24" - 2x arm, or put the spare somewhere else.
