that's what it looks like to me.

You've not yet answered this, but does your a/c currently work?

yes its working fine ,maybe once long back i felt that its blowing kinda warm air instead of cold then it started to blow cold again , i didn't do anything.

when dealer was doing service and Summer A/C campaign they told me that i have a leak and i need to change all the above mentioned items with lot of money for parts and labor.

but if its leaking from there they should have noticed it and fixed it, right

the dealership wants to replace everything for two reasons:

1) warranty. They cannot warranty the parts or job if all they do is fix that leak. It won't be an issue, but on the off chance that your a/c fails afterward, they don't want to be accountable

2) money. They want to up-sale so you won't have an issue just as much as they want to pull the wool over your eyes and pretty much **** your wallet.

Take it to a non-dealership shop and have that o-ring fixed, vac pulled, a/c charged. You do not have any component failures at this time.

Hi guys,

similar problem here. My AC stopped working one or two years ago, the compressor doesn't switch on.

When it was still working I brought it to a garage for a much needed refrigerant gas recharge. After that it was good for like two days, during which the air it blew was less and less cold until not cold at all, then the compressor eventually stopped working.
I brought it back to the garage and the guy told me this usually means the compressor is broken and it's just not worth the money to have it replaced on such an old car.

Now I'm considering the eventuality that instead there's a leak somewhere and the low pressure sensor doesn't allow the compressor to engage.
I took a look to the AC system and pipes and I found out two suspect spots (pictures attached):
- a stain around a hose between the condenser and the compressor
- a missing screw where a pipe enters the compressor (or is that normal?)

What do you think? Can either of these be a leak?

Thanks,

Greg

You can get refrigerant with a dye in it which will show up under a black light. I'd clean everything up, recharge it with some of that, then see what you find.

Hi profdlp, thanks for your reply.
I followed your suggestion and went to another garage to have that done.
It turned out there was a small crack in a pipe that caused the leak.
They fixed that and so far everything seems to work fine!
