Hi all,
Now that the snow is here, I have been hearing a noise that is concerning me.
When I drive in 2wd and the rear wheels start slipping I hear what sounds like a horrible crunching noise (not terribly loud but I notice it). It happens with ESP on or off. When it happens, the headlights also seem to slightly dim in conjunction with the noise.
My guess is that it is the traction control applying brakes to control the spinning (is there a separate ABS pump that does this and would draw an electrical load?).......any thoughts?

thanks
John

It's the ABS and TC. Mine does it too and I've had my KJ for over 4 years now. Like you said its the TC applying the ABS to the spinning tire to re-gain traction. My lights dim and everything as well. You'll find out too the TC only kicks in at low speed b/c if you give it to much gas with esp off the KJ will just sit there and spin and TC won't kick in. (atleast thats my experience)

Peronsally I think the Alternator in the KJ is too weak for it. Anything you do causes your lights to dim. Even rolling down the window.

Thanks for the input...good to know it's not the diff tearing itself apart or something.
What an annoying setup....
Is my ESP button working properly, because when I turn the ESP off it still seems to be functioning?

It's not the flux capacitor...it's not installed in the car yet....it's coming next month (really...)

Turning it "off" just desensitizes it a little.
