Problem with remote?

Just to state the obvious first: yes, I've changed the battery in both remotes.

Anybody know why my remotes aren't working well? I have to be standing right next to the Jeep in order to use the remote to unlock/lock the doors. This is a recent development, though it didn't have much of a range when I purchased it in March anyways so it was probably already a problem then.

I'm assuming I'll have to have the dealer look at it (boo), but do any of ya'll know what is involved in this type of fix? My warranty from the dealer includes electrical, I just have a $50 deductible.

Check the battery in the Liberty. Also when you changed the battery in the remote was it a name brand battery or an el cheapo dollar store variety. Are there any other variables such as a sudden change in weather or a new cell phone tower or FM station in your area. Perhaps you could drive a few miles out of town and try it.

Happens to me very time I park outside a specific supermarket..
I too did change the batteries first time it happened.. No use.
Turns out that many others have the same problem in that area, something to do with nearby broadcasting antennas.

Does the problem come and go?

Try going out of the city and give it another go. Some times radio frequencies block the remote or limit it’s range. I noticed that then I’m out in the country the remote’s range is longer compared to the city.

I replaced the batteries in both remotes with an Energizer battery. The only place I really go is work and home, and it doesn't work well in either place. I'm driving to MI for a week in the next couple of days, that will give me plenty of opportunities to check it out there.

It's just frustrating because if I'm going to have to be literally right next to the Jeep before the remote will work, then I might as well just use the key.

Problem solved! I got in the Libby yesterday to go to work and noticed that my FM transmitter for my MP3 player was still plugged in, and realized that the problem started when I started using my Zune in the Libby. Remembering what some of you guys said about radio frequencies, I unplugged it.

The remote works great now. Thanks!
