How much is your tag and or inspection renewal?

July is nearing, and it's time to renew my license plate yet again. This year's sticker is blue, and it's gonna cost me about $120. I haven't received the official paperwork just yet.

So depressing. :( Well at least I got my new plate ahead of time, so I won't have to be concerned with that. I like my letter/number combination too. :) I feel sorry for my uncle though, he had to change over 4 of them.

How much is yours?

EDIT: I forgot to add, I think this is the most annoying, useless aspect of vehicle ownership. :(

Mine was right around $200, but it'll be cheaper next year. One of the very few things I miss about NM, I got my KJ registered there for $50

My mother bought her used '05 limited KJ the same weekend I did and hers was only $150. I guess that's just how it is here.

Sounds like they do the same thing AZ does - a tax based on current value. When I first got mine it cost me $234 to register it, but each year it'll go down. The last year I had my '98 Dakota it was only $60 for registration.

Wyoming does the same thing for the first five years, then there's a flat rate you pay after the fifth year. Mine were about $250 last year; half that, this year. Three more years and they'll be about $35.

Minnesota goes by age & original price. One of the joys of having a 2003 & a 1994 vehicles is it only costs $35 each.

Renewal here for this type of vehicle is $35 I think. They are listed as a station wagon on registration. My Ranger was more because it was down as a truck, even though it was smaller than my Jeep. My dad's Ram is much higher due to its weight.

That is a good thing about NM...it is a lot cheaper than AZ. I remember when I first bought the Expedition, while living in AZ, I think my first tag was in the neighborhood of $1,200.
Somehow, Arizona's MVD seems to be able to justify charging a percentage of the vehicle's value and determining the cost of the tag.
Needless to say, that $1,200 tag was a major shock.

Though the bright side of Arizona's MVD was the fact that my 60's Beetle, cost me about $13.00 for two years!
