djs; it's well documented that the only really problematic KJs out there belong to people that call them cars ;)

Just sayin :D

FYI, I just took my 07 in for a few repairs while it's still under warranty. I was informed that Chrysler has extended the warranty on the Liberty regulators since it is a "known issue". He did not have specifics about the extension, just that they are aware.

Interesting to see this thread at the top today.

I just sent Steiger a message as to whether an '07 that has had all 4 windows serviced since June '09 would require his '02-'05 parts or those for an '06-'07.

Just found out something about the rear replacements in the 07 (02-05 parts). The glass is thinner in the 02-05 which will cause a rattle if the window is not all the way up. It's not a big deal except that it had me thinking that the regulator was going bad again. the dealer just pulled and replaced everything and had the same rattle. They could not figure it out untill the measured the glass and saw the difference.

That makes me wonder about something else.

Rolling the rear windows down while the fronts are up presents a nerve-tickling wind-wobble in the cabin.

Now, I'm 99% sure that existed when the original 07 regulators were in ours, so that's not it.

But have there been threads about this symptom?

Rolling down the back windows all the way in any KJ will cause a ton of buffeting if you leave the fronts up.

One guy on LOST had his back window blow out (thankfully, for him, under the 3/36) from doing such a thing.

Just emailed and called Chrysler to request out of warranty cvg. on passenger rear window mech. which failed recently. (was svcd May 09)

Nicely, driver rear failed yest. too. (was svcd within 12mo/12k)

Suffice to say, I'll be ordering the metal parts to permanently fix...

I just had my 2007 Liberty @ 50k out-of-warranty window regulator replaced for $77.00.

I have included a link to the TSB, NHTSA bulletin I used to get a Jeep-Chrysler to open a case; Also my invoice for your reference.

Call Jeep-Chrysler phone @ 800-247-9753 or email @ http://www.chrysler.com/wccsapp/uni...orms/us/webform.jsp&promotion=null&category=U to open a case.

Good luck!

Thanks for posting this information Clapperc! I am currently having this issue and have contacted Jeep-Chrysler via phone to open a case. I also mentioned this forum and service free of charge for this known problem. Hopefully I'll get this resolved quickly with no out of pocket expense!

I just sent Chrysler the invoice for the passenger front and drivers rear on my 06 KJ (18,000 miles). They said they would reimburse the $993. cost for both window upgrades to new regulator and glass. Both of these windows were replaced under warranty before. The other two windows were upgraded to the new design, one under warranty and one they sent a reimbursement for.
That is six windows replaced on one KJ!
Anyone looking for a clean '06 KJ with full window upgrades and low miles?

Just found this thread, I'm gonna reach out to Chrysler too. My question is this:

Is it better to use the Steiger parts to retain the original thicker glass, or do the retrograde and get the thinner glass? The windows ARE tinted, but there's no scratches from the initial failures.

I can't speak to the tint issue... But I have no issues with the replacement glass for the front. Steiger cost? Chrysler maybe free?

Hi Clapperc! I was given a case number and case manager by Chrysler. I scheduled a diagnostics with my local dealership. When asked how I found out about this information I proudly mentioned this Jeep KJ Country forum and the many members who were very unhappy about this issue. The problem was resolved with my 2007 Liberty with no out of pocket expense! :happy3:

I was contacted later by my case manager. After my update he said that a payment would be sent to the dealership. I asked if I could get this matter resolved if it happened again in the future (the rest might go out eventually) and he said yes!

Thanks again for your input you rock! :rocking:
