Transmission flush or pan drop?

I have about 60k on my transmission since the rebuild. I'm getting conflicting information - would it better to do a pan drop or take it do the dealer to do a flush.

The only way to guarantee 100% new ATF+4 in there, is to use the dealer's re-circulating machine.
60 K is a good service interval HJ. ATF+4 gets real hot !! & the friction modifier's do break down over time.
For me, it's good piece of mind knowing all of the old fluid has now been removed & replaced.

fluid exchange then change filter.
It's on my to do list too but I'm using my DIY setup for the fluid exchange.

Permatex Ultra Gray RTV work? Do I need to do it at a certain temp? Do I need to measure what comes out? Thanks for the replies!

I think so. I use the ultra black, but I think it's essentially the same. No, as long as you're above freezing you're probably fine.

No, fill by the stick with the Jeep warmed up, in neutral with the e-brake set. Should take 4 qts before you start it up, then add as needed.

Transmission flushes may subject the trans to higher than normal operating pressures. If you ask me it’s another stealership ploy for your money.

But what do I know, only got 315,000+ miles on my factory 42RLE. Only changed fluid and filter once. Added Lucas stop slip 7-8 years ago maybe? Still going but I can tell she’s feeling her age.

Any leaks with the ultra black? I was going to use that too since I had that lying around but it doesn't specify for transmission applications online.
Originally bought to be used on the rear diff but I ended up using a gasket instead.

I’ve been running a Lubelocker since putting a new diff cover on the 8.25. No RTV or sealants needed, no leaks so far at 10k since change. They make one for the 42RLE so I was gonna try that out next. Still need thread sealant for that one bolt though. D30 Lubelocker should work for the D30A also.
