Solid chrome lugs: $23

The KJ has been shedding lug nut caps like a tree prepping for winter, so I decided to get some new lugs. Was going to get McGuards, but I found these for $23 (for 20) and they're solid chrome, the brand is DP accessories. The dots on them are just reflections of can lighting. They got like 4.7 stars out of 5 over 700 reviews on Amazon, so figured it's worth the gamble! Just make sure when you go to find some , you preface nuts with lug. :happy175:

my replacements were DP Accessories as well.

That way I can get free replacement one piece lug nuts from discount tire when they're forced to break them.

I noticed on the Amazon page, you can buy a set of 23 or 24 for only $1 more.... might want to do that so you have spares. Or buy the 24 count, plus 1 single for a total of $30 and have 25 lug nuts so you can do the spare tire as well. Although I'd probably put just 4 on the spare and keep one of the locking lug nuts I have on my spare.. just in case.

Your spare takes 5 lugs? Mine only takes 3...I just have a lock and then two of the cheapies that are still ok.

if you have your tires rotated regularly by discount tire, make sure they give you a solid lug nut replacement before going to the shop they'll send you to get get the stud replaced.

You're correct... there are only three... my brain misfired and I was thinking it had 5 like all the others.. derrr.. Jason brain gone dumb... squishy stuff not worky.

$7 at any discount tires and you can have that socket to remove them easily,the same socket you got when you bought them.

I have 3 of those sockets in my toolbox at work.

I was at AZ last weekend getting Plastidip (only place around here that carries a full line) and noticed they had those sockets and one for removing wheel locks. $10, would pay for itself the first time I use it.

Yep, including those special locking nuts. One of my employees lost a nice set of wheels & tires he protected with some expensive locking nut on every tire - the very next day.

And it's still against the law to shoot those thieves here.

^^You guys are makin me nervous with all this wheel stealin talk.......I went out and checked my wheels. Yup, still got those 12 year old OEM 5-spokes on my 12 year old KJ with no protection. Yup, NO protection. Even the spare is still hangin on the back for dear life by 3 old nuts. I got trail-rash protection....no one wants them. Now I can get my other cup of coffee.......:happy175:

I had a next door neighbor years ago who was dumb enough to buy his spoiled teenage son a fancy car with all the extra goodies. One day I leave for work and see the whole family gathered around, parents looking grim, sister looking mean (she always did) and son sobbing like a five year old. The car was up on cinder blocks.

I had those fancy McGards with the spinning outer ring(almost impossible to get off easy without the key) but later decided I'd rather have them steal the wheels/tires then the whole Jeep.This was after I did the SFA swap.

I do keep 3 wheel locks for the spare but that is it.

x2 on rather them take the wheels than the Jeep.

I'm more concerned actually about the winch being stolen...not in my area, but whenever I go to rougher places. Probably be less obvious than jacking wheels. Try to park it with the front against a wall or something. Thought about security nuts or something, but that gets back to I'd rather someone just take the winch.
