Prelowered 2002

Can you tell by the spring part number if your 2002 Lib is a pre lowered unit ? If so what is the p/n for that spring or were the lowering changes more severe than just a spring change ? J

It was a spring change, but the coils will cost you more for OE units than Old Man Emu coils will.

Might as well lift it, after all, you're after clearance

I still have the factory paper labels on my springs so thats why I want to know the part number...j

March 02 or before that for build date, yours is a prelowered KJ.

Beyond that, talk to the folks at the parts counter.

There are so many different PN's for OEM springs and many of them may have been superceded when the KJ was lowered.

Good luck finding the info you want.

This is what I have listed on my build sheet for my '02:

ZCGP - Spring - Left Front
ZCVP - Spring - Left Rear
ZRGP - Spring - Right Front
ZRVP - Spring - Right Rear

Not sure what it means though.

Tony's correct...

If you still have the Factory stock springs - they will be "taller." As soon as you replace any one spring, all of them will need to be replaced, because Chrysler only delivers "short" springs.

I believe the Pre lowered KJ's had the 4x4 badge on the side, not on the gate.


Other than that, check your build date. If it's before April 12, 02, you're pre lowered....

ZRGP - Spring - Right Front
ZRVP - Spring - Right Rear

Not sure what it means though.

I don't think so.....that's what holding place it was sent to before being delivered to the dealer....mine was Iowa....

Interesting...my build date is 6/25/01. Here is what Jeep sent me when I inquired:

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center regarding your 2002 Jeep Liberty.

In response to your recent reply, we would like you to know that as per our vehicle information database the build date for your vehicle is June 25, 2001.

That seems too early to me but maybe because it was a new plant in Toledo building the Liberty for the first time.
