Lift Glass >:/

When I tug on the hatch handle a little bit so as to release just the glass, the glass doesn't lift but if I continue to pull it so as to open the bottom gate, the glass rises once I open the gate past a certain point.

When I go to close it, I have to manually flip the latch by pulling off the hatch's interior paneling and pressing down the little lever to let that little copper-ish colored mechanism turn back to its "accepting" position.

I've tried fiddling with it, messing with unlocking/locking it, messing with the auto-lock, and cleaning/greasing it but to no avail. Things I know it's not: bad hydraulic arm or bad battery.

Need some help!

Best to take it all apart and throughly clean and lubricate all the bits and pieces.
Also check all of the electrical connections for corrosion or a faulty connection.
It could just be a worn out part.
