So, let me first start off by saying that I just moved to Cobleskill last month, and it has proven a NIGHTMARE for cars in my family.
First off, my parents' Ranger can no longer tow anything because the frame and part of the hitch rusted through. Then the day we were bringing furniture down to the new apartment, my mom thought it might be fun to total our '97 Subaru...right in front of the apartment. Two weeks ago, someone drove into the bumper of my Jeep in the school parking lot. I saw it happen, and so, he is paying for my new paint job. WHILE I WAS AT THE BODY SHOP, my roommate calls me and tells me HER Jeep Liberty just got hit on Wolf Road in Albany, and is un-drivable. So I drive to pick her up, and we get home, and I start a new job the next morning. On my way back from work this evening, I get to the same intersection outside our apartment that my mom totaled the Subaru at--my Liberty decides to make a grinding/squeaking noise, and now refuses to go into gear.
I had the master cylinder replaced about a year and a half ago, in which it did the same thing (refusing to go into gear [ALSO right in front of my house]), but without the grinding. I spoke to someone at the Jeep dealership tonight and he thought it was the clutch. I have yet to try to see if it will go into gear without being turned on--I will let you all know how that turns out. Anyway, I'm just looking for ideas as to what it might be, since it can't be fixed til Monday at the earliest. Also, if anyone knows any good mechanics in Cobleskill, NY, please let me know!
