Thank you..! I've question, Anyone has blocked the rear differential?Nice photo of the 2 KJ's, I am a long ways away, hoping they open all the BC parks, so I can go play soon too.
Thank you.. Do you know the price of Trac-Lok? My jeep is 2002 and have owned 3 years long.. Sometimes I hunt, Fish, Go off-road or just on a picnic, I have to walk on all kinds of terrain and jeep does it perfectly. My 04 Rocky Mountain came with an OEM clutch based locker, it's called a Trac-Lok.
It actually works pretty well now, after re-building the clutches under factory warranty.
With a Trac-lok you have to add the 4 0z bottle of Mopar limited slip additive.
I'm sure some members may have an Arb air locker, but not an easy or cheap install.
Lunch box lockers are not the best, and will probably leave you disappointed.
How long have you owned your Jeep & What year is it?
Thank you.. I will search it..Only the 2002-2005 KJ's were optionally available with the trac-lok. (added cost aprox $405) above the open diff price, at time of buying the jeep.
Also to tell if your has one, on a lift or on rear jack stands, if both rear wheels turn forward same direction in neutral, it will be a trac-lok, there also would be a trac-lok tag at rear diff, but a lot of times they are gone, or painted over.
If yours does not have the trac-lok you may be able to find one from junk yard by the descriptions.
So lets get you started by checking an online build sheet getter and looking for a mention of " AXLE- TRAC-LOK Differential " to see if yours already has one.
OK so Enter in your VIN number from here: https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing
Do you see mention of "Trac-lok Differential" on the build sheet?
BTW all 8.25 rear diffs should be serviced very frequently ! Every 20 k miles or sooner.
See owners manual for fluid specifications.
