I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty and this seems to be a common code from my research.

Additional Information:

The check engine light comes on when gas gets to about the half way point. If I fill it up all the way it disappears.

If I let the car idle for more than three-ish minutes the gas level will drop to empty. After a restart it returns to normal.

When filling the car with gas it will overflow a decent amount if you let the auto stop do its job. (I feel like this is unrelated?)

How do I get this check engine light to go away permanently?

As per the Dtc chart for U1411 possible causes are: Can C short or opened, Bcm or Pcm. However you can try measuring the resistance of the level and/or install a resistance of 110 ohms to check if the gauge is maintain in the middle of the gauge regardless of tank is full, a quarter, etc. In my case, I open a decent hole in the trunk to be able to access the gasoline module.
