OK not having much luck in spares or finding a wreckers with this model let alone a jeep wreck.

Guys and gals I have been on a few sites looking for a Transmission Dipstick TUBE. All the places I have looked at say they don't make this part any more or have one for a V6 engine.

I have a broken one - for some reason it has broken off just above the first retaining bracket down about 30 - 40 cm from the top. A real b**ch to get to - I am going to cut off from the bottom just past the first bend as it heads towards the front. I will take that end piece with the grommet to my local engineers and get one made. I will also use the top section that the dipstick locks on with.

My first concern is I need to know the length of the Tube - If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated. this is for the correct oil checking on the dipstick.

My vehicle is a 07 Jeep Wrangler Sport (Liberty) 2.8L CRD auto model.

If anyone can get back to me where they know i can get one even better. They are starting to look like dragon scales atm to find. The Tube part number is 53013497AC

I will be changing the ****** oil and filter while I am at it just so i am happy that no metal monsters fell in.

Any tips or info about this problem again will be greatly appreciated.

Some transmission dipsticks were too long bottoming out and giving false readings. Mine is that way. Every time I opened the hood the dipstick cap left a 1/4 inch gap above the tube. It's ziptied down until I cut the tip off.

I'd give summit racing a call to confirm they actually have one, looks like they do @ $30.

Yes LibertyTC I have since found a few - but I might be a bit cautious in my old age :) I can never find one that is specifically for an 07 sport. always for 02 - 06 never 07 Plus the part number i was given comes up with a part for the V6 model. I'm not sure but some 07 model gearboxes had dipsticks and some didn't. Both had the tube tho for the workshop to check the oil? This model I have had a dipstick in it. I may have an early model ? I will certainly contack them and get some kind of insurance that it will fit my model.
Cautious because I'm in Australia.

Cheers
