My liberty limited 3.7 has went from about 16.5 mpg to 7.5 slowly in about 2 years, and around 7,000 miles. No check engine, or trouble codes.
It's been very well maintained throughout its lifetime.

You’re right to think something is out of whack. I would take it to a garage that has a professional scan tool. They can check out your fuel trim, read your oxygen sensors etc. in real time and hopefully get you an answer.
