Anyone have any idea if this will fit a 2005 liberty without any modifications? I came across the tires cheap and hoping that I can make them work. Stock I believe are 235/65/17. Thanks in advance.

That's the size I have on my 03 which is sagged an inch. Absolutely no rubbing.

Hi scott, also pm`ed you...
just ordered a set of refurbished 17" (17"x6")wheels on ebay that look
like yours in your avatar....with your tires, did you have to use a spacer
or just bolt the wheel up ?
with my crusty 16 inch aluminum wheels and 235/70r16 tires i can just barely
get my fingers between the tire sidewalls and the a arm
im curious how much room you have with your combo ?

Here we go again
245-70-17 is a 30.5 inch tall tire
First thing you do is measure how much sag you have.
( middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare)
Then you can start asking questions
I've had them pull into my garage with 79,000 miles and 235-70-16s rubbing
So just because someone is running that size does not mean that they will work on yours
Also if you want to have any space at all around the tire I would highly suggest that you find a smaller size .
The 03 I picked up last year with 78,000 was sagged almost 1.5 inches.
To properly run a 30.5 inch tall tire you need a lift.

What is the fad of wanting bigger tires with no lift??
They will do you no good but lower gas mileage slightly and cause you to mold/trim the fender liners just to make them fit
Stick with stock if you don't have a lift and also, READ on here
It'll do all of us good..

I really am curious on the need of bigger tires though- get a stock sized A/T or something if it's traction you want
You'll do way too much work trying to make bigger tires fit with junk suspension

You missed the part where he said 235 not 245

gee thanks for the replys...
guess i should give my signature
2005 crd limited,(red) new head and everything that goes with it..., euro torque, gde full torque and trans , weeks squatch kit
front:OME2790 Springs 90009 Strut, 2 conduit nuts(factory balljoints perfect)
rear:OME2948 Springs 60069 Shocks this done in june 2016
from what im told im about 2 inches over stock, but im like 3.5 inches from where it started....it was a LOW rider, very pleased with the suspension now
the road salts here and the previous owner`s love of grinding curbs on the little stock
tires with no side walls have wiped out my wheels, so once i started looking for some new ones i couldnt find anything i liked , so in a mindless auction snipering , ended up with a set of 6 spoke 17 inch wheels (factory refurbished), like the ones scott has in his signature pic....
so i thought i would ask how is set up working.....because im now looking for 17 inch tires and find the choices are a bit limited.....buyer beware i guess
one thing i dont have is sag, looks to me like i will be more limited by suspension
clearance than anything else, and im not interested in going all that big tire wise.....
feel free to give me your opinions, thanks.....

Only 2" of lift, I wouldn't go hardly any taller than stock
You have to remember that it may clear the fenders when parked but take it out on the road and it's a whole different story
Turning, hitting bumps/rocks, really anything that drops the suspension down will cause it to rub unless you do some molding and cutting

Which all leads back to my previous question stated above
Can anyone answer that for me?

Most true off roaders wish to run larger diameter tires to increase their minimum ground clearance. Most boulevard cruisers on the other hand do it primarily for looks. Honestly, I do it for a combination of both.

An unlifted vehicle with bigger tires adds to the "looks"?
It'd make it look even lower than it already is IMO

im not sure what your question was....
my question was asking what tire will work with a 17 inch factory wheels that i just ordered ?
that is of course with my girly man lift...
then again it is also my wifes dd, no baja pre runner here, but we do run the beach and get into quite a bit of snow........
this is how it sits on the factory 16" 235/70/16 s , that are worn out and soon to be replaced....
ok that is all the info i have, do i need to give you more ?
looks to me like i could go a little bigger on the tire, but im
not familiar with the 17" factory wheel........ set me straight

Ok , a little more info....The wheels were delivered, they are 6 spoke 17" x 7.5", the spacing from flange face to rim edge (rotor side) is about 5 9/16"..... not what was shown
in auction specs....though the refinish work is close to perfect
both front and rear from center to bottom of flare about 21 3/4"
I would appreciate any input ....
can i work with these wheels, or should i eat the freight and send them back ?
and if i do use the wheels, what sixe tire would work ?
tanks....

To the OP,
Been running 235/70/16s for awhile and have an inch of sag the whole way around.. if I turn them completely to full lock, they do slightly rub on the fender liners.
They didn't when my sag wasn't bad, but have recently started to once again since the front is starting to sag down to an inch and a half of sag..
If you've got stock suspension, I wouldn't recommend going any bigger than that.. if even that big.
My tires don't look stuffed in there and have a nice look, but there's no reason to go any bigger without a lift..
IMO, looks pretty dumb.. if anything it makes your suspension look even worse than it already is.. makes it look like your jeep is sitting too low..
Anyways. If you offroad, get prepared to be annoyed and regret your tire choice..
But ultimately your tire is your choice.

As for riggler,
If your jeep is sitting at 21 3/4", you've got a lift and will have no problem squeezing larger tires under there.
You may run into some rubbing at full lock with that extra half inch, but pretry sure it will just depemd on your backspacing. And I think you'll be okay, but feel inclined to say leave the possibility of rubbing there..
So I think you should be okay.. but if you wait for Tom to reply once more, he's the tire size and lift guru...

Just make sure you clearly state your question you're asking him. Sometimes the less words, the better..

Id ask,
If I'm running 17x7.5" rims, with 2 3/4" lift, what's the largest tire size I can fit onto my jeep with minimal rubbing.

If they are stock should be 5 inches or 5.5 of backspacing
Now "IF" you are at 21.75 then you have some kind of lift ( 2.75 inch)
( would like to see pics of front coilovers and rear set up to see what you have)
So if you do you could look at 245-70-17s / or even 255-65-17
Hard to tell for sure the way its sitting but appears to have some kind of lift, hope its not a spacer

Thanks for the reply
i bought the ome 1.5 kit from jba
Front: CRD HD OME2790 Springs 90009 Strut with 2 conduit nuts
Rear: Diesel-Med OME2948 Springs 60069 Shocks
while the existing ball joints are perfect, after some extensive reading here I think
i will regret not doing the jba arms....time will tell
I ordered some firestone destination at 245/70/17, i have a good tire guy and if
the test fit doesnt work out i can go down to 235 70 17,
i gave a it another measurement and all 4 corners are at 21 3/4 plus.....

What? No clear answer ?
IF,......... IF your springs have not sagged any at all you may but they are an inch taller than stock so highly doubt
LEFT front , from middle of the wheel ( hub ) to bottom of the flare new stock was 19 inches
measure that on level ground ,
But that is a 30 inch tall tire and I have had them in my shop that 235-7-16s at 29 inches rubbed
