Where's a good interior place to tap into the parking light signal?

I want to add LEDs that come on with the backlights of the gauges and radio. Because it will be low current, I was going to run a MOSFET off of the parking light signal to control them. My first thought was the main harness, but that seems like it would be a pain with all the other wires to dig through. Is there a smaller harness in the steering column that would be easy to tap into and run under the dash?

I was thinking of doing that, I'm just not sure what wire it would be. From what I've seen, it should be white/purple. I can't find a pinout for it, but I could probably figure it out with a multimeter. I also found a circuit labeled "PANEL LAMPS DRIVER" which may be an easier choice.
