Arrgg...

I have no rear defogger.
No rear wiper.
And no washer front or rear!

I've been reading through the my FSM and well, it'd going to be a long day or
week depending on how the trouble shooting goes.

Sometimes I truly hate working on my vehicles!:favorites68::pp::freak3:

I think I'm going to :smokin: and see how it goes!:Bye:

long story short... 3 month old battery vented like a **** for no apparent reason, ate through all the vacuum lines (that control the turbo!!), ate part of the fuse block, corroded the hell out of everything metal including the frame rail.

oh and the battery maker is saying there's nothing wrong and that I "tipped" the battery over.

I had a battery that badly vented but did not cause that much damage.

Battery vented due to being "overcharged" on a long journey by a wiring fault that ran the charging voltage up to 17 volts!

interesting - what was the wiring fault?
I had about six different wiring faults that happened at the same time causing various issues.

My SO had crashed the front right of the Jeep into a tree that jumped in front of her. The main harness runs in a circuit all around the front of the engine bay and I believe the harness got damaged there or by the panelbeaters.

I was able to isolate all the bad leads...either shorting to ground, half-shorting to ground or shorting to some other random wire next to it in the harness.

I then cut off the bad wires at both ends and replaced them with new wires...taking a short cut with the wires each time. I leave copies of the relevant circuit diagram page with my changes marked under the rear seat so any new owner could see my changes.

There were two bugs that caused the charge voltage to run up to 17 volts...at which time the cluster "pings" and the engine shuts down.

One was when I turned on the front wipers....and I was driving through a downpour at the time and the other time was when I turned on the air-con.

Fortunately I have the circuit diagrams for my Jeep and I have 34 years behind me fixing mainframe computers, computer peripherals and industrial robots (retired now) so it is no big deal for me to fix problems like this (no I do not do house calls...unless someone wants to give me a return ticket to the USA!):icon_lol:

Twenty days of F:favorites68:KING around with these problems...

I wish this was an English car, at least I can make sense out of the wiring!

Well, I got the rear wiper and washer problem sorted out and fixed!
Turned out to be a blown fuse.
The fuse box on our '04 is screwed up, in that the owners manuals list of the fuses does not jive with what's actually in the fuse pannel...
Must be a Canadian KJ thing or something!
I also bought those LED fuses that glow when they blow.
I'm going to change all the fuses over to those later today as well.
At least it'll be easier to figure out what to replace.

Now to figure out why the rear defrost doesn't work.
I bought a new relay so for it so I'll instal/plug it in this afternoon.

I thought Enlish vehicles has screwed up wiring schematics!
