Hi, i got my daughter a 2011 Jet which came with a 3" suspension lift, 2" wheel spacers, and 20 inch almost bald tires. I would like to replace the Wheel spacers and 20" rims. My local tire dealer said that I should be able to go with 17" rims with 265x65x17 tires. Does anyone know if that setup will fit, and will it require re-gearing ?

    Thanks for any advise.

FIRST, what kind of lift, full spring or spacer ?
reason for asking is spacer lifts sag badly so we need to know where you sit at .
Measure from middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare on left front
    Personally I hate 17s, I would go 16s

The size you mentioned would be 30.5 inches tall, basically what we call 31s
you will lose some power and gas mileage with that size
I run 31s on one of mine but have regeared to 4.10s

Hi tommudd, thank you for the information. I ended up going with the 265x65x17's and they seem to fit fine with the 3" suspension lift.

The 3" suspension lift is springs and i did not have to regear. The difference in tire size is on 21 revs per mile. When she goes off roading we will see how hard it is to clean them, i am sure not any worse then mine.

Those are 30.5-30.6 inches tall, so yes basically a 31 and trust me , a regear is needed if you like your transmission etc
It will shift a lot more now, run a bit hotter ( due to extra shifting etc ) plus a little extra weight of the wheels and tires and with the Libertys narrow range where they run best, its a regear game
After 40 plus years of building 4x4s there are not many that can get by when going larger tire sizes without a regear, also 16 years with these Libertys

Good example, I have two Libertys that are lifted one with 32s and one with 31s, both with 4.10s
One road from my place to state capitol is rolling hills on interstate, running the 03 with 31s and stock 3.73s it would shift at least once or twice on every hill when running 75. With 4.10s it only shifts a very few times in the 120 mile trip, does not bog down, doesn't down shift just hit the hill and goes. Better mileage, better on the transmission, runs cooler on the scan guage.
Now you say IT'S ONLY 21 revs per mile but end of the day it is worth regearing

Not much too understand, if your too much of a baby you have to worry about getting your wheels muddy stay home. It's not rocket science.

Not snotty at all, after you have been asked the same question for the last 16 years in most cases and people are just too lazy to look up anything for themselves then yes I may be a little short at times
I suggest you visit Pirate4x4 someday and ask some of the questions that are asked on other sites. If your butt doesn't burn when you leave that group then you didn't read the responses LOL
I " grew up " with guys that were 55-65 in the early 1970s, now they were snotty ( using your word) You would think they hated each other and everyone else in the world, and their answers to any questions were even worse.
Some day in 35-40 years you'll look back and think how much of a young snot you were and laugh
NOW back to Jeep Liberty things, I have a customers KJ waiting for me do some work on it for them before 2 PM
