Installed a new crank position sensor as my jeep was stuttering on stops hard cranking to start, and rough idling. Problem has seamed to be fixed other than I might have a slight vacuum leak. No more near stalling out. Mpgs seem to have come up a slight bit.

I had 2.5+ inches of rain early this morning and a critical flood warning that woke my phone up (and me too) from the National Weather Service.

I also had a half an inch of water in the passengers footwell. So glad I have Husky Liners that catch it and keep the carpets dry! I wonder what the source of the water leak is…

I’m going to guess passenger side sunroof drain…assuming that your KJ actually has a sunroof. I did a write up on unclogging them using thick trimmer line and compressed air with nice pics earlier in this thread .

The plot thickens… no sunroof. ;)

I suspect it came down through the blower motor, otherwise it would have not gotten caught in the floormat. How does it get there though? I cleaned the leaves out from under the cowl about a month ago.

The khaki KJ I had here had a diffcult to find water leak. it wound up being the factory windshield install was improper near the passenger upper corner. there's pictures on here of what I found, and even a video I think.

that's looking up at the inside edge on the passenger side.
IIRC, there was some kind of pinhole in the urethane near the upper corner, and the water wicked its way back to getting between the various layers of panels up along the header. it then ran along the headliner, into the a-pillar cover, down behind the dash, and drip on the thankfully deep weathertech mats that are in that jeep, creating a swimming pool.

This thread has so many things going on, I don't know what I'm replying too.

I fitted a lunchbox locker to my 2005. Take the diff centre portion from a 2008+ KJ, swap it out. Put your original ring gear back on. Fit lunchbox. And done.
Wouldn't you need to setup the new R&P?

Pulled starter,2nd time in 10 days, tested good but that "stud" nut connection was loose...so...
That sounds like the motor connection from the battery. That would indeed cause issues. Maybe tighten it?

EDIT - show us which bolt is loose....

What brand do you recommend?
I've got blue streak coils in now. They're about 50 bucks a pop from oreillys. But about 2 years back a had one of my NGK coils fail on me. I was about 500 miles from home and my engine started misfiring. I did the unthinkable and brought it into a shop for diagnosis and after charging me for diagnosis, all they could tell me was that it was misfiring (I know it's misfiring, that's why u brought it in). Anyway, I was out of time and needed to get back home so I drove on the misfire and it fried my bank 1 catalytic converter. I eventually did the smart thing and swapped 2 coils and confirmed it was a bad ignition coil. Got that replaced and went on my way. Another year later and the rest started going 1 by 1 every other week. I have since replaced all of them and I'm finally replacing my exhaust to fix my p0420 cat code

So they did find a code for a stuck solenoid last week, but they couldn’t drop the pan until today. There’s a lot of metal in it, so it’s time for a remanufactured transmission.

Oof.

Getting real close to getting my old cats out of the 05 but I'm stuck on the last couple milliliters of front exhaust hanger. Why did they have to change it from the easier bolt on cats from the earlier years?

not for nothing, either look for a low mileage cheap or a well documented maintained jeep to steal the trans from.
not to mention think of all the special bits you'll be able to hoard :D

yea either cut the crossover tube like you did, or drop the transfer case cradle. I've done it both ways.
some aftermarket replacements come as 2 pieces with a mating sleeve.
Since my new exhaust is all 1 piece, do you think I should drop the transfer case cradle to install it?

It's not a new R&P.
Pinion stays and you are using your old ring gear. Just make sure it tracks. I used machine marking and turned and tuned until the gears lined up, but it was very quick and easy.
