I am in deep trouble here:
When I started my beloved Jeep 2003 2,8 CRD this morning I noticed a high pitch metallic sound from engine when I revved up.
The voltmeter indicated NO charging! I drove very carefully to a specialist in car electrical repairs:
"your "generator pulley" is broken"
He said it in Norwegian of course, this translation is what I think it is called in english.
He also said he could not fix it, neither had he spare parts, nor the tools to the job.
I would have to drive some 180 kilometers to a proper Jeep garage, and spend some 200 - 300 dollars to fix this little thing.
Please help me!!
a) what is this "freewheel thing" sticking out from generator which the FAN belt (at top) goes around called in english?
a1) anyone who has the part no?
b) what is the procedyre to remove and change this thing?
d) should I go for replacing the entire generator instead?
e) what special tools are required? Is this a thing fixed by Jeep dealer only?
f) what do you pay for this thing in USA ? what do you pay for a complete generator in USA?
Thanks !!
