Hello,

My name is Beau and I am new to the forum. I have recently purchased a 2002 liberty and would like to upgrade from the stock tires and rims that are 235/70/R16's

I am looking at the BF Goodrich A/T T/A K02 tire in 245/65/17 on an 8.5 rim. No lift.
I would like an offset but not sure how this works yet.

Does anyone know if I would have rubbing at all?
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

My apologies, I think this needs to be moved to the Tires/Rims discussion. I did not see this when I posted.

Moved to KJ Tires & wheels section, no worries.
17" 245's are probably going to rub without a lift.
I'll let Tom handle this one, as he knows best.

Too wide of a wheel to begin width, will have lots of rubbing front and back in front wheelwell
need to stay with 7 inch wide wheel and 5 inch of backs spacing not to have issues
then why are you going to 17s ??

I really wanted some nicer rims as I do not care for the stock chrome ones, but found that there is virtually no selection for a 16" tire with that bolt pattern. When I went to a 245 17 I have more choices. I was hoping to have an offset where the tire is out from the fender but I'm not even sure that is possible with a 16". Thought a 245 would help with this.
Really hoping that painting the rims is not my only option.
Again, appreciate any advice.

Its not possible even with 16 inch to have your tires come out to the edge of the flares unless you are lifted
Just not enough room in the wheelwells to do that
Looking at wrong wheels as well it seems as there are plenty of 16 inch that use what you want when lifted
But sadly at stock height you are stuck with stock width/backspaced wheels

Ok, that is good to know... Glad I did not buy tires/rims before I checked here.
I will look at the lift section to see if I can find more info on doing a 2" lift and pose any questions there.
Thank again!

My #1 all time go-to for my Libertys ( KJX2 and KK ) are the 2005-2006 Wrangler Rubicons. Have them on lifted and non lifted. No issues once you know the correct size tire to run.

Since you are sagged some they ( 245-70-16s ) will work but rub in front on tight turns

GA05SPORT are these the Rubicon wheels you mention? I am thinking of running 245/70/16? From what I have looked up I think they are a 5 x 5 bolt pattern which I now find out will not work.

5x5 is on the 07 and up Wranglers
