UPCOMING LIBERTY RECALL

BLOWER MOTOR:

In May Chrysler will begin recalling 149,600 Jeep Liberty
SUVs built over the last two years to fix a blower motor that could
fail if the air conditioning is run at its highest setting during hot
weather. The flaw has been blamed for a dozen fires.

Over the last two years.....so we're looking at 2005-2007's......I know i've seen people reporting them failing on the earlier models too....

Just 2006s and 2007s. I have never heard of any blower motor failures/fires.... the dumb resistors, yeah, but the motors... nah.

Recalls are posted on the Jeep site long before notifications are sent out.

A friend and I were laughing at how ironic it is that the air conditioning catches fire. Lol.

I called my dealer and Chrysler this morning concerning the still not announced blower motor recall. Neither my dealer or the Chrysler customer service rep knew nothing about it.

Chrysler said it is recalling almost 500,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Liberty sport-utility vehicles after the company received 66 reports of fires because of electrical overloads in the driver's side instrument panel below the dashboard.

In all, Chrysler is recalling 328,424 Durangos and 149,605 Jeep Liberty SUVs from the 2006-2007 model years.

The company will repair the heating-ventilation-air conditioning blower motor.

The article tends to make you believe Chrysler has already announced the recall, but when asked, they don't know anything....
