Hi Guys,

I have this code on my liberty P0891, I've already checked the relay. it seems to work fine.

KEY OFF: got (-) in 86 pin/ KEY ON: got (+) in 86 pin/ KEY START: got (+)

KEY OFF: pin 85
got nothing
KEY ON : pin 85
got nothing

KEY START: pin 85
got (-)

My question is: What did trigger this code on? How it supposed to be normally?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Welcome!

Download the 2003 Jeep KJ Service Manual Here.
Also download the 2_5 2_8 Export Diesel manuals for other information.

Once you have downloaded the 2003 KJ Service Manual, go to Page 8W-31-2 to see the logic page showing the Transmission Control Relay.

First things to check are:

Fuse #5 30A in fuse box under the hood.
Swap over the Transmission Control Relay with an identical Relay nearby.
Disconnect the battery and re-plug the connector on the TCM several times in case of bad contact.
Re-plug connector #C105 several times...the Wiring Section 8W Index Component Locations will show you where the various Components, Connectors, Grounds etc. are located.

Then you will need a Digital Multimeter to measure the voltages expected on the relay and its outputs as well as the ground for the relay. Bad grounds cause lots of problems!
