A major improvement in cornering and ride!
So far no rub on pavement at full lock, when I drive the Forest Service roads next week I'll be careful not to go full lock because there is very little clearance between the tire and tie rod ends.
The 255/65R16 AT3's are only slightly shorter than the factory 225/75R16's (29.05" vs 29.29") according to the Tacoma World tire size calculator, so the speedometer is still right on accurate. I'm glad I didn't listen to the folks who said the 255's would rub for sure and to go with taller 245/70/16's which sometimes do rub on the pinch welds.
I may get some .5" bolt-on spacers just to be sure there will be no tire rub.

Spacers will make it rub , stay away
You're lucky that 255-65-16 are not rubbing
I have seen stock , worn out 235-70-16s rub
We'll see how you do when you twist it up some, I wouldn't do it personally
I like some room in the wheelwells if going off road
