Toothpaste works brilliantly on cleaning white lettering on tyres:

Just tried it one day after Jen was using some to clean her silver jewelery!
Also works good on glass, chrome,and some types of plastics. Light the tail light lens' on my Mini.

baking soda will work too

to clean out carbon build ups you can drop some ex-lax... nevermind.. that actually doesn't work for your vehicle..
