    Hi all.
Ya totally new here and new to the CRD.
    I haven’t had a Jeep Spence my 81 CJ7. Loved that ride !
Anyway I’m looking to buy a 06 liberty CRD with 174000 miles on it no information on weather or not the timing belt was ever changed
Is it even possible for the belt to last that long ?
Thanks for your help!!! Ya I’m a newbie lol

No. Common wisdom is to change the belt, idlers, tensioner, and water pump if their age/miles are unknown. 70,000 miles or 6 years installed on the belt. Water pumps don't last 2 belts.

Many additional modifications are recommended to keep the engine intact. LOSTJeeps has the most info, and sad stories, relating to the CRD.

Do you like to wrench? A lot?

Not a big fan of wrenching but I do it
I’m going to make an offer on this CRD but I will most surely do timing belt pump and thermostat. Just to make sure. It kinda scares me not knowing

    But wait! There's more...

    Consider:

    ARP head studs
    In tank lift pump
    Mr Bauer's incredible thermostat housing
    Weeks kits to eliminate unmentionables
    Provent air/oil seperator
    GDE tune
    Torque converter upgrade

    I must be forgetting something...

    The torque is nice.

    I forgot...

    metal glow plugs
    silicon turbo hoses
    new air intake hose

Folks seem happy with the 3.7 gas engine as long as it doesn't overheat.
