It's been a really mild winter this year. Temps lately have been bumping 40 almost every day.

    Saturday is another 2-gun shoot
Forecast? = Cloudy, windy, high of 12 degrees.

Oh well, that's the way it goes.

Mags for the K2 and CZ75 are all loaded. As well as a few clips for the Garand - apparently there will be a stage for "pre-1950 military rifles, but not AKs"-

John says he has plenty of pallets for a bonfire to warm up between stages. If everyone shows, we will have 11 shooters, so there will be a lot of resets to keep us moving and warm too.

    Nice!

    Is it a registered SBR?

I've fired a few 'rifle length' Thompsons, which were kinda "meh' if I'm honest. Always wanted to try a prpoper version...I'd like to see how it stacks up to the MP40 I shot a few years back

It's a pistol at the moment. He will do the work to make it an SBR and get the NFA stuff done.

He rented me an hour on a vintage Thompson a couple years ago for my birthday and that was a blast (pun intended). Guys who've shot the pistol length version say that it is actually remarkably accurate.

I got myself a Springfield XDS-9 Mod 2 this week. It was their Gear-Up kit, so it came with one 7 shot flush mag, and four 9 shot extended mags with the grip sleeves, night sights, and a range bag/case. It shoots nicely, and carries well so far. Now, I just need a decent holster and mag carrier set.

    Shot another 2GAC match yesterday.
Placed 7th out of 12 shooters throughout the 6 stages

Had some longer range pistol shooting (IPSC silhouettes @ 30-50 yards) which, for me, is a challenge.

I thought I did really well on the rifle portions, but I struggled with the handgun parts.

The wildcard this time was a mil-surp bolt gun stage, where I used my M1917...Man, I really like that old rifle! :)

I've been thinning out the collection over the past few years. At one time I had 30+. I've sold all but a few of my old Milsurps (kept the 1917, Garand, and Swedish Mauser)
Also, sold a bunch that I just didn't shoot anymore.

I'm down to just those I shoot regularly or the "working guns" (for hunting, carry, etc.)

I ordered one of these yesterday. It's a Chipmunk Hunter Pistol from Keystone. It's a single shot 22 mag, but mine will be blued. I can't wait try it at the range.

I sold my Mosin plus 650 rounds of 7.62x54R, my XDs-9, and will be selling my AK to fund this:

It's a Smith and Wesson Performance Center model 19 Carry Comp in 357mag. I'm also getting a beater Winchester '94 as a partial trade on the AK. I'll be taking this home on Friday.

    I had a 9mm Para by Star...made in Spain.
This was a single action with a 7 round mag and in the 1970s was what the South African Police and Military used due to the sanctions against South Africa in those days. This was really a piece of rubbish in those days...single action, 7 round clip and used to jam a lot.
I bought one and joined a shooting club at a firing range and also shot sometimes at indoor ranges at moving videos.

I actually turned out to be a natural at combat shooting much to the jealousy of the established club members!:p
Nice thing about this Para was that when I had to do mandatory army camps I used to drive NCOs and Officers around. When they went shooting they would lend me their arms to shoot off as much taxpayers' worth of ammo as I wanted....had to clean all their weapons for them afterwards of course!;)

I sold that and bought myself a double action 9mm short Beretta 84 which was easier to carry.....lovely weapon!. When that got stolen with my gun safe from my house in 2004 I decided that it was not worth getting a replacement.
Once SA had free and fair elections in 1994 all races could apply for weapons but the process was made so difficult and expensive for everyone to obtain a licence that I decided not to bother. Of course that means that most deaths by firearms in SA are caused by illegal weapons used by the bad guys:eek:
