I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on tire storage - I have two sets of tires on rims for my car (summer and winter), and currently store them in plastic bags, fully inflated in a non-heated shed.

I would like to do the same for the Jeep eventually, this might give me a good excuse to purchase a set of Moabs or at least some Cragars down the road :) For now the Revos do a decent job in the snow though.

Storage-wise, does anyone think it matters if they are stored in a heated vs non-heated location, fully, partially or not inflated, etc...

Would they be 40 lbs lighter if I let all the air out? (OK bad joke!) :D

When I lived in a climate that required two sets of tires, I just kept mine stacked up in the corner of my garage (didn't have heat). It seemed I changed vehicles more than tires, the tires seemed to hold up fine.

Not the mountains.
I always kept the extra mounted set in plastic bags off the ground with no problems. I did have to add some air to the tires come summer but nothing major.

However you decide to do it, make sure to rotate them every 3-5k miles. ;-)

Dry and out of the sun are key I think. And clean.

This weekend I'm going to build a tire rack in the back of my shed, and put my summers away for the winter after cleaning them. Basically it will be two 2x6's about 18" apart going across the back of the shed, about 1 foot from the back, about chest high. Should still be able to get my lawn equipment & shop vac under it.

Clean them up, stack 2 on top of each other, put on a glass top, and you got some killer end tables for the living room...

Have actually been looking for a suitable Corvette Rallye wheel w/centercap and trim ring to do that with this 1977-date-coded BFG Radial T/A for a coffee table
