If you used a wheel soacer on the back hatch could you put a larger tire on it? Also how much larger has anyone gone? The weight must be an issue .

Weight isn't much of an issue. I have the MOPAR spare mounted bike rack that goes over the tire and supports two bikes.

A larger tire shouldn't be a problem.

thanks. Do you think A spacer would work to bring the tire out far enough to clear the bumper?

Yea it would, either that just getting an offset on your wheels that makes them stick out a little bit. On mine I'm running a 4.0 offset, and no problems.

As far as mounting a larger spare goes I have a question. Depending on the rim, instead of a spacer couldn't you just turn the tire around and mount it with the front face toward the door? Seems to me that would give you plenty of clearance; it would just mean the spare hangs a bit further off the back.

Dunno, just wondering...
