Remove stereo/temp control bezel SURROUND

Doing some appearance changes inside my 2004 Lib. I've seen a lot of instructions to remove the bezel that goes around the stereo and temp control dials

but I'd like to remove the larger part that surrounds it so I can paint it cleanly. Does anyone know how that's done? I don't want to do my usual yank-on-it-til-it-comes-out-and-then-break-it approach if I don't have to. THANKS!

I believe thats actually part of the dash and isnt removable

I think so as well... that's not a trim piece.. that's a molded part of the dash panel. To paint it, exclusively, I'd recommend a lot of masking off that which you do not want painted.
