Are the shocks leaking? Mine made a huge clunk when the shocks were bad.

Otherwise, probably UCA, not much else it can be back there.

Shocks are new so that's not likely. Boomerang is looking most likely it kinda feels a bit loose in the rear especially when on and off power.

Heres one way to check
With KJ on level ground in park e-brake off , take a 4 way on one lug nut. Now roll the KJ back and forth that way, you will be able to see the arm move if bushings are bad

So I have tested the LCA'S as you said Tom and found no movement I also removed them and there is no visible wear in the rubber. I can also find no signs of wear or free play in the u can ball joint. The bushes in the u can are relatively new poly done before I bought the vehicle as are the LCA'S non original they appear to be same design as moog r series

Shot in the dark here, but what if you switched the shocks around? I know you said they're new and they aren't likely the issue but stranger things have happened. Pretty easy to do, beats throwing more $$$$ at it until you know for sure.

I have checked wheel bearings they feel ok. The noise is not typical of a bearing it's honestly like a loose shock mount. I have swapped shocks and will be driving soon to check that out

So swapped the shocks definite improvement but there is still a a knock occasionally also hearing a rattle but I think it's in the front lower clevis bushes are a bit suspect

Could it be the springs? I replaced the shocks and springs on our '05 and now I get a random clunk/knock in the rear when going over certain bumps. It almost sounds like the spring is hitting metal on metal. I checked the rubber isolators but they look fine, springs installed the right way to. Could using the OEM isolators be the issue? wondering if putting in a new pair would help.

It could be springs the left side always sounds like it's slamming into the bumpstop when I pull into my driveway it's only a 2 inch step in the concrete so there is no way the springs should compress that far.

That sounds exactly like how it was when my last set of Bilsteins went bad, well one of them went bad but I ditched both for OMEs. It was the driver's rear. It felt like it was bottoming out and would send the bump right through my back.

Shocks have only done about 2000km so that shouldn't be an issue the only time I notice it is pulling into the driveway and there is no shock in the car just the noise.

What brand of shocks are they?

Guess it isn't a shock...if you can't feel it.

It's really interesting that it changed when you moved the shocks around.
