Did jeep offer a limited slip rear axle or a locker from the factory
Mine is a open diff I want to put a locker in it but if I can find one with a good rear end that has a locker or limited slip I would rather put the hole axle in then rebuild the diff

Early KJ's 02 to 04 (05?) had a clutch based limited slip 8.25 diff called a Trac-Loc. Many callled them a Trash Loc !
They required a 4oz bottle of Mopar friction modifier added to the DINO gear lube.
Also see this post #3: https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/is-this-a-trac-lok.57811/
There is an ARB air locker which is best but $$, or alternative would be a (DTT) Detroit Tru Track 8.25 that could also be installed.

Don't even waste your time looking for one
Even if you did find one with a Trash Loc in it , it may already be toast
Not worth switching even if you find one with a 1000 miles on it
Do a real locker like mentioned above and be done
I'm running Detroit TruTacs front and rear on my 03

Mine has the factory limited slip. And at 150,000ish miles it still works great.

On the other hand, I had a ‘13 Wrangler with the factory lsd with 30,000ish miles and it didn’t work for ****.

Mine at 165,000ish miles seems to still be working well, but I'm sure there are better setups.
