I know, it bites doesn't it?
I'm a big Suzuki fan. I would love to have a Suzuki Jimny 4X4 Diesel.
    Modern day Samurai.

Then they tell us here in Canada that it doesn't meet bumper hight regulations.
Yet 10-15 years from now you can import them into the country. Just like all the Nissan Skyline GTR's coming in right now as new as 1996! What I'd like to know is, in that 13 yeas time span, did these cars and trucks grow taller?
Did their bumpers age like fine wine and mature into a strength that puts them at par with todays vehicles bumpers?
    What gives?
More Government B.S. or is it the the motor vehicle manufactures don't like the competition?
I don't get that one though, GMC owns how much of Suzuki? (Here in Canada anyway something like 40%. Just look at the Suzuki Grand Vitara, It has a Cadillac engine here in Canada!)

Most likely you are right about the competition. I have no idea what age has to do with those restrictions either. That Suzuki is pretty sweet too, especially if it is a diesel. As for the Grand Vitara, I'm not sure whether or not the one available in the States is Cadillac-sourced or not. I know it's GM. After I saw the test Clarkson did and how great it handled, I also like the Fiat 500 Abarth. Possibly not enough to pick up a date in one, but still a cool car lol.

I know the XL-7(the big Suzuki) has the GM 3.6l. I like the Grand Vitaras.

4 wheel and off road said WL.....it's based on a Mercedes platform, which I believe is the ML. And, we are talking about the next gen Grand, right?

Yes we are, and it's WK.

    Those sources are simply... wrong.

The W164 = ML Class was engineered at JTE (Jeep/Truck Engineering) in the PROC. And so is this "2nd Generation" WK. Co-Developed. NOT based on...

I know a few Chrysler engineers.
I know a few GM engineers.
I don't know any Ford engineers, sorry.
    And Allpar.com :p

It's kinda like the whole KJ/KK/KA thing.

    Liberty started it.

KA based on KK, which is based on KJ, but KA was released first.

    This is similar.

Sometimes I love Michigan, sometimes I hate it. But while we're on this subject... I should have listened to them when they said to NOT buy that damn Dodge. Ick, I saw it on the road this weekend, wanted to throw up.

Ok, now I get it.....but it would make more sense if they called a WL. Oh well...the wife still wants it.

Ugh.....just check the Dango's trade in...less than the KJ:eek::eek:. I don't get it... It's it great cond., nearly every option (less 4wd, nav, factory tow package(has hitch), and side air bags.) It has more miles than average, 61700 compared to 60000. More the reseaon I love my KJ more....I love muh Jeep.

It's a Durango. It's NEVER had good resale, likely because of the previous generations' problems. (Ball joints, even worse than the KJ, upper AND lower issues)

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
In bold is why it has a lower resale value then your 4wd KJ.

Down in here (the penninsula state), only a select few want 4wd, and most people down here don't want it....(or know what it is....) Even 4x4 Durango's aren't much better...maybe $500 bucks more.

I just remembered that Dodge offered so many discounts that new was less than used at the time, that probably didn't help.

I'm comparing it to a Tahoe/Yukon....if that helps. those have always held their value, even though they can't tow as much, not as big engine, not as much style (in my humble opinion).
