Doing a few deliveries last week (covering for the driver on vacation)

I'm driving behind a pickup loaded with construction materials (tailgate was down) when I see what I think is a small paper tag or something flopping around in the box. Then I notice it is in fact a small FLAME!
Two lane highway, so I get up on his bumper flash the lights and lay on the horn.

I can see the passenger looking around as the flame grows bigger and smoke begin to be visible.
I have no clue how the guy didn't see the smoke.

Anyway, this continues for about 3 miles until they slow for a roundabout and the flame, no longer knocked down by the wind, burst over the top of the box and black smoke begins pouring out!

They quickly pull over and I pull off in front of them and grab the extinguisher in the delivery van. I run back to see the guy with one of those tiny little 2# extinguisher, from about 6 feet away from the flames like he is watering gladiolas.
Another guy had pulled over behind him and was rushing forward with another extinguisher and between the two of us, expending our bottles, we mostly go the flames under control until another passerby showed up and finished it off.

Turns out, there was a battery cable running along the inside of the box for some reason, and in loading the concrete blacks and bags of ready-mix they had knocked it loose somehow.

    Never a dull moment:rolleyes:

Well, if the doctor is a proctologist then you'd be covered both ways.

(And why does our spell-check not know the word "proctologist"?)

I can't see posts from either my iPhone or iPad, only my computer.

So I visit rarely because it's a PITA.

Been wanting to go fishing as well. There is a pond on my Grandfathers old farm where I learned how to use a dozer and dynamite when I was 9, to build it.
small 3-3.5 acre pond but was always fun to waste some time there
Used to be pretty good fishing , been wanting to go back and sneak in and try it out now that I live back in the area

Landed a bunch of pinks from Resurrection Creek a few years ago. Males were ugly as heck, but the females looked like beautiful big trout.
