Cheer up, everybody - I'm here! :blah:
The Warthog has always been my favorite... ugly and mean
OK...so I retired from being a paid professional fireman back in 2010, and to be honest, I haven't been keeping up with the level of automotive care I once gave my Jeep Liberty that I did when I had a big garage and a lot of free time while on duty.....
About 4 or 5 years ago I pulled the OEM rock rails off, cleaned up the rust, and sprayed them with a couple coats of Rustoleum hammered finish black. Last weekend while giving it the first good cleaning, waxing, and detailing in 3 years, I noticed the rock rails have developed a serious case of Seashore Cancer.....(a.k.a. rust).....
So tonight I pulled them off with the expectation of cleaning them up and repainting them, however I found the situation a little beyond repair.....
Tomorrow is bulk trash pickup and recycles day, so out to the curb they went, in no less than 5 minutes a scrapper picked them up......
Since I don't encounter too many rocks while traveling on the beach, hunting trails, and wildlife refuges, I figured I can go without them.....
Your sig picture looks like Rooster Cogburn.
(That's a compliment, by the way.)
Probably for the best. The do more damage than they offer protection. They look kinda neat but are absolutely worthless as rock rails. I unfortunately have first hand knowledge.
ditto......I bent my drivers side one.
Mine are on the garage floor at the moment ... lol.
Bonus post ... Found a gas station close to me that sells PURE NON Ethanol Gas in 3 octane levels! Awesome
They might of had a chance at protecting something from a minor impact when they were new, but when a steel tube rusts out from the inside, as well as the outside, to the point that I came close to breaking it in half with one swing of a welder's slag hammer.....it ain't protecting nothing from nothing......:emotions34:
I get the impression that they were engineered as nothing more than a decoration, a prop to help sell the Renegade as something more trail worthy than your run of the mill Liberty, marketing without substance......besides, now it looks like it's sitting higher without them......
I started using non ethanol gas and on the first tank I had am increase of 1mpg. Also it may be a placebo effect but the Jeep seemed to run better.
Any thoughts on using non ethanol gas?

^^yeah non-ethanol gas is real hard to come by around here. There's one place that has 93 octane straight non-ethanol gas but it is out of the way and I only go there once in a while. All the farmers use it in their tractors, etc. They don't have any other octane without ethanol so you have no octane choice.
It's Friday the 13th.....everybody duck...LOL
and a full moon
I saw a pretty nice KJ near the Upper Arlington neighborhood of Columbus, OH today. I wonder if it's a forum member's!
Almost looks like Megalos ( from LOST) but his I think sits a little taller ( done in my garage) did it have BFGs on it or could you tell ?
Saw a silver lifted here in Gahanna couple of days ago, crappy Daystar lift, I waved ...they looked at me like I had 5 eyes instead of 3:happy175::shrug:
Here is a picture of his ( Megalos) the front one, with TwoBobs and then mine
so it could of been him. You busted him going to Micky Ds :happy175:
Maybe it's Ronald's. :secret:
I think they might have been BFGs, but I'm not sure.
LOL I think they would look at you the same way whether they thought you had 5 eyes or thought you had 3.
EDIT: I remember the cut front bumper and bumper fog lights. It was probably him, haha
No couldn't of been Ronalds,
he is not cool enough to drive a......... "BLACK KJ":happy175:
There is no non-ethanol gas near me. Not until I get over the border into a free state, PA.
