My Dad just bought a 2006 Liberty with the 3.6L motor, Command-Trac, and 39k miles. I noticed a small leak under the car and it seems to be coming from where the transfer case mounts to the transmission. I think the fluid is running down to the bottom of the transfer case and it drips from an area right in front of the crossmember. Is this a common problem and what is the fix for this?

It's red so It's ATF+4 from either the transmission or transfer case. Try and look more closely to see exactly where it's dripping from.

By the way, it's 3.7L...oh and of course welcome! (welcome)

I agree that it is coming from either the transmission or transfer case. It appears to be coming from where the front of the transfer case mates with the rear of the transmission extension.

* The transmission output to transmission extension seal is dry.
* The middle transfer case seal is dry
* The side of the transfer case around the shift linkage is dry.
* The front and rear driveshaft seals are dry.
