Its that simple. I started it up this moring drove fine about a 1/4 mile to this gas station. I left it running as i ran in side. Jumped in put it in drive and got a little jerk. Then limp mode. I was like why does it feel like i have zero power. Its because i am trying to take off in 3rd. So i look down engine light is one plug in my elm and it gives me the p0841.

I pulled over and checked the fluid. It was full a couple bubbles on the stick but not frothing. I was on my way to work only so much i can do so i turned it off. Let it sit a minute fired right back up and out of limp mode. I have a 45rfe should i be looking at a new solenoid pack. Should i drop my pan and check that the sump filter is properly seated. Ideas? Experience? Anything is helpful guys thanks.

I'd start with that. The easiest thing to try. When you drop the pan see what's in the fluid, hopefully it's clean.

Yeah, unless it's like totally burnt it's a bit hard to tell on the dipstick. Check pan for excess material.

Or, pay the $90 or so and get it professionally diagnosed. It might be worth it so you don't throw money at it. They'll check the CVI values and the pump, drop the pan too and check it. I kind of wish I would've done that sooner than I did- I spend about a year throwing parts at it, but for a different code.

    I did a quick google.

Looks like one of the possible issues is the filter seals.
    or
    the pressure sensor itself
    or
    the solenoids
    or
a bunch of other things I haven't read yet.

    sorry :/

What are you thinking of doing?

Dropping the pan checking the fluid tonight if there isnt a mess of metal in there changing the filter reeplacing the fluid and crossing my fingers. If i still have problems i will change the solenoid pack. If there is metal in the pan like alot start looking into a replacement tranny.

Thats what i was seeing alot of people saying it was the filter and the proper way to install the filter which i just popped it in there with the ring on. I guess you are supposed to put the ring in make sure it is seated then seat the filter.

Ima take it slow it ran fine once i turned it on and off got out of limp mode and shifted pretty good. I will know more tonight. I was having hard delayed shifting problems last year after i changed the pressure sensor and refreshed the fluid. It kind of went away i chalked it up as a learning process for the trans. I had a few people tell me the solenoid pack could be going.

Fingers crossed. There was no large metal shaving no abnomal amount either yea the magnet had some but the pan wasnt loaded with stuff. Good news the sump filter was very lose i was able to jiggle it around quite a bit. The new filter went in tight very tight no play. The trans seems to be shifting better than ever before. I only drove it a few blocks i want to let the rtv seal more. Am i being naive is this just a facade

I refreshed the fluid got about 5 quarts out put 5 new in. So in a year i have dropped the pan twice and refreshed the fluid twice. The fluid looked good from what i seen in the sample cup i took.

So i drove it into work this morning after dropping the pan last night and it is shifting great. The engine light did not come back nor did i go into limp mode. The ride was nearly an hour and no problems. Like you said time will tell and i should probably drop the pan one more time before summer is out.

I did however recieve a battle wound. I was using a creeper when putting the pan back on. The floor was covered in atf and i am lifted so i fit pretty good with the creeper. I had my left arm down on the ground for leverage as my brother put a few bolts in. I slid my body to move the creeper closer and caught the skin on the back of my arm. That hurt.

Yea my brother got a good laugh out of it. Kept saying how do you roll over your own are fat. Ran the jeep a good 100 miles today seems to be shifting better than ever. No cel and no limp.
