Don't know much about the GC's...

My brother has always loved them and is in the market for a "new used" car. He's found an '07 that he likes - has the V8 (4.7?).

Just curious as to what the problem areas in these vehicles are. Are they a decent buy? Good reliability? He's basically just looking for a commuter vehicle. Doesn't drive very far right now, so I don't think the gas mileage is a big deal to him. We don't get a ton of snow, but the AWD would be really beneficial to him when it does get nasty as he needs to open up at work regardless of weather conditions.

Grab an '08, if possible. Much more comfortable on the elbows, etc. Built better, higher quality.

Seats are good, if just a tad bit flat. (But we all know that.)

Other than a front end rattle that actually stopped when I lifted mine... no issues with my WK. Well, it also needed a new rear tailgate latch.

    Seriously, that's it. :)

I haven't heard any big issues besides the 545RFE not having enough fluid and stalling the engine. This is only for the 4.7L/5.7L engines.

    Just the normal stuff.....................

    -4.7 exhaust manifold gaskets
    -Rear unit bearings
    -Front diff mount bushings
    -LBJ's

    Besides that very reliable.

What are the symptoms of the diff bushings? Going to be in the market for an XK soon.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. The symptom is a clunk that you can hear and feel on take off and stopping.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Doesn't seem like the list is any worse than any other vehicle in the market - they all have their weak points.

The vehicle itself, like every product under Daimler, feels "7/8ths of the way done", BUT is certainly reliable.
