Hi all,

I’m prepping my ’05 Cherokee KJ 2.5 CRD for overlanding/off-road. Steel bumper, winch, underbody protection, extra load.

Heard OME stopped their load-specific front springs and replaced them with the 4060 (diesel only). They say preload adjustment now handles extra weight.

Anyone here:

Run 4060 springs with a heavy front end?

Measured lift or sag?

Compared them to the old heavy-load springs?

Trying to decide if I go 4060 or just grab EFS. Any real feedback appreciated.

sig.
got the heavy fronts and the mid rears.
she rides more truck like now, when unladen, but stick 3 people, all their crap for 2 weeks, a roof bag, and 3 bikes off the back, and it rides a lot better. can handle the plow up front and ~400# ballast in the back when the season comes.

I’m specifically asking about the new OME 4060 springs that replaced the old 927/790 heavy-load diesel fronts. Not the previous heavy-load versions. Has anyone actually installed the 4060 on a diesel KJ with bumper + winch and measured the real lift?

I doubt anyone here has... usually the OME setup is good for many years. I have the 790's with 3.7 and steel winch + detours bracket. In the last few years, I do not think they have settled more than 1/4".

Thanks. Just to clarify, my concern wasn’t about old OME durability. The issue is that the new OME 4060 runs ~394 lb/in, whereas the old diesel heavy-duty fronts (927/790 HD) were closer to ~480–500 lb/in and designed for permanent front weight.
With steel bumper + winch always on and mostly off-road use, I didn’t want to rely on preload to compensate for a lower spring rate.
I’ve decided to go with EFS HD fronts, which are closer to the old OME heavy philosophy. I’ll be able to compare once installed.

Oh that’s interesting and not a great evolution of the product. Too bad.

Btw I think 927 are 400#, and 790 are 500#. I contacted arb about it some time back.
