I've got an 07' thats got 184K miles on her. Came with no manual, window sticker, nothing. Not even previous maintenance records. I changed the oil when i first bought it, using whatever the cap recommended and conventional oil.

What is the best type for this type of car? considering year and mileage.

    Any help would be awesome!

I'm not fancy - I exclusively use Walmart SuperTech synthetic in all my vehicles these days. For my Jeep Liberty and Patriot (both with over 100k miles), I use the SuperTech 5w30 high mileage synthetic oil. I've only had my Liberty for a few months so I've only changed the oil in it once but I can vouch for no issues with SuperTech with three other vehicles for the past 5 years or so.

I've also used Pennzoil Platinum but I dont see any point in spending an extra 10 bucks on an oil change for the PP when the SuperTech works seemingly just as well.

With a Fram ultimate synthetic filter (which will last me two oil change intervals), I'm right at $20 total for a full synthetic oil change.

I've been known to be a cheapskate, though... :)

I use a Mobil 1 filter M1-209 and fill it half full before installing it.
For oil I use 5w-30 Maxlife which meets ILSAC-GF5.
It has conditioners for treating stem seals, no more smoke at start ups.

I use 5/30 castrol gtx conventional. Once I year I’ll do a change and use conventional high mileage to clean things out a bit, but for most changes in most my vehicles it’s 5/30 castrol gtx. Never had an issue. I do run Mobil 1 synthetic in my xj but that’s because it’s been used in it since new. I change oil at 3000 miles or 4 months on all vehicles as well.

Mobil 1 full syn 5/30 always in the KJs
none of that high mileage crap, does nothing
Out of the 17 brand new vehicles I've bought over the years all have went into the 250-300,000 or more with no issues before I sold them
Oil and filter always changed every 3-4000 miles , or every 3 months, whichever comes first
    never any Fram filters.........................

as far as one with 184,000 miles, helps to know the history
what oil etc previous owner used, how often it was changed, how it was used etc
any used I buy I want to know the history before laying out the 100s
