Noise while just parked in garage

After owning a long line of Fords my wife last week opted for a Jeep Liberty Limited. I have to admit it is a cute little thing. Today when I was out in the garage I periodically (about every 5 minutes) heard a noise that sounded like a motor running. The sound only lasts a few seconds. Anyone know what this is?

Could be a number of things. If you can isloate it to a certain spot on the Jeep it makes it much easier to diagnose.

Motors running include, but are not limited to Cooling Fan (electric), power locks, windows, mirrors, fuel pumps, etc etc. Pretty much anything that moves by some sort of motor.
