No one has on an IFS that I'm aware of
Be a lot of work due to making top and bottom mounts
What are you going to do with the UCAs if you drop the cradle? They'll need to be lowered or something done to drop them two inches as well
Going to the steel front diff from JBA?
Dropping or lowering the cradle keeps it at the same height as a 4 inch lift so other than a small amount gained from going to a say 33 inch tire what is gained ( since you're only gaining 1/2 inch tire size -one inch oveall ) ?
With 6 inches of lift 33s ( 285-70-17s ) can be run -yes

I was thinking about fabbing a custom set of knuckles and tubular upper control arms with uniballs instead of ball joints
the cv axles are the only thing that i havnt been able to figure out

My front diff looks like steel/ iron

Im looking for travel, reliability, and comfort for this build

Btw i am a desert guy at heart ive build many trophy trucks and street legal prerunners when i lived in cali

But this build is on a budget and its my dd

Well if you have the fab skills then I would go way past what is there now and build a full width front, only way to get the amount of travel I'd like to see. Wouldn't have to drop the cradle that way either. Of course that means a complete front suspension/ front and rear diffs etc.
Don't think uniballs would be street legal as an alternative to ball joints.
Front diff is aluminum unless someone has replaced it with a steel front diff. That in your case would be great since the stock one can only go to 4.10s and would never hold up to 33s . Plus 4.10s not being low enough to power the 33s

Ive thought about puting tj rubicon d44 both front and rear but i want comfort and this thing to ride and handle great im trying to build it around being a overland rig that is at home in the desert as it is in the hills and mountains of nc to the nasty roads of alaska and still be civilized enough to drive it every day.

Plus i love the function over form of Australian rigs

Ive considered the jba platnum 4 in with 265s but im just not shure of the shock tuneability.... im familar with kings and love kings

Uni balls are street legal in california arizona and nc but i dont know about any other states

Ive ran OME 927/948 combo with Rancho RSX shocks, also OME 790/948 with OME and Rancho RSXs, Ran the complete Ironman setup ( all of them with my own personal touches ) and now the JBA adjustables . While all of the above rode and handled 50 times better than stock, it wasn't until the Coilovers went on that it was 150 times better. You can feel the suspension working all of the time now, great ride no matter what.
What you are wanting to do will be a ton of work, and yes better in the end but just depends on what you want. I feel the JBA kit is as good as you can get with out a large amount of cash to throw in it.

See thats my reaction, adjustable coilovers (when tuned properly) make any vehicle ride increadbly better and i like a firm yet plush ride that is responsive in the corners and very predictble.

The tcs and stability system ***** on this thing how do you get around it stepping in at the wrong times

Thankfully mine doesn't have any of the traction control or any of the extra electronic BS so no worries

Do you know how to disable it. While keeping the abs system

sent by telegraph from my k30

You cant disable just the traction control without disabling the abs.

Edit: not easily atleast......

Mines SFA and it handles better then it did IFS and the ride is on par with a lifted IFS KJ.Drove it everyday since '09 but I have another car(had to pay for it regardless so why not drive it) now so it see's weekend duty only now, drove it all over the country with SFA with zero issues.

Oh and I'd skip TJ D44's,low pinion front. To keep the ABS/ESP junk you'd have to look at JK axles or JK replacement diffs from Currie or Dynatrac.

I love your jeep by the way. Before I ended up in the wheel chair I had a 91 Bronco with Dana 60s and 5.13s and 44 inch Boggers, A 85 Bronco II with a 460,4spd,205 and dana 60s ans 4.10s with 42 inch TSLs,a 87 ranger with a 390 and 39.5s. I built a chevy for my father with a dana 60 and 14 bolt with 4.56s,lockers and 44 inch ground hawgs for a recovery truck. I built a solid axle explorer for my buddy with 39.5 TSLs,4.56s and lockers. Back when I was young and foolish all my money went into my trucks or tools.I use to dig some pretty nasty holes for everyone else to get stuck in. I hope to fix up this jeep I bought yesterday and maybe down the road throw a cherokee front or wrangler front under it. thanks, Patrick
