Jeep 3 7l timing

Having a problem with my timing idk where to go, I have the crank at top dead center and both v6 markings on the cam at the same point. I turn engine on and it backfires, idk how far we are off. Any help? Anything on where which valves should be hitting at which time. Just anything would help step by step other than the article I should do frim google. Thanks
