I've been looking at the JBA 4' lift and see the package doesnt come with new CV joints, yet the rockfather lift says the kk cant go over 3' without having binding in the cv joints.

    Any thoughts?

and yeah im new to this...

YES STAYAWAY FROM RRO . The CV joints are machined on the inside of the boots so they get more angle out of the Cv axel.

i think i saw the words custom and ultimate, bout 1000 dollars a piece.

    to the OP.
if your lifted too high your cv's will "rumble" a little. And if you bastardize a couple, their pretty cheap at napa in the US. drop it down a bit and try again. I think the magic number is>23.25 inches fender wheel center distance. This could also be expressed as greater then 4 inches of lift.

In all likelihood, you won't surpass the height of top plate, 927, 3 clevis combo for the front with the jba 4 inch (about the same height +- .25") and custom anything won't be needed.

    But its your money.

i'm running just a top plate on 927 and i'm at the same height as the last JBA4 that posted heights on here. Still running factory CVs a year later.

    To the OP:

You can do an OME/Bilstein lift (advertised at 1.5 inches but actually gives you more) and with a couple of accessories you'll get near 4 inches of lift. Add JBA's 1/4" top plate in the front, 3 conduit nuts on the bottom of the shock above the clevis, and a couple of rear isolators in the back and you're sitting nearly 4" higher than stock. CV's will be fine as others have indicated.

Keep asking questions - that's how you learn!

    OK here's an update
My left side CV is starting to make noise,..... darn cheap Jeep parts :favorites68:
Its only lasted 177,700 miles of which over 156,000 have been lifted !
and as most will tell you higher than it should be :whip::icon_twisted:

wow thanks alot guys, and i have looked into doing the OME lift with the accessories such as bumpstops and isos and a clevis lift up front and dont see myself even thinking of the expensive JBA anymore.

Youve all helped me and my wallet alot

Spend the money and buy OEM half shafts.
Here in Canada at least NAPA reman is CRAP!
We're on our second set in less than 5000 miles.
I bought EMPI half shafts and they are better and cost less!

I have the JBA 6" with a set of the RCV front and rear axles on order. Pricey, yes, but I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that my front CVs are no longer the weak point when I'm an hour out from civilization.

My tie rod angles are what keep me awake at night. Still a hundred times more portable than a spare axle set and a pretty quick install to boot. Looking at doing some custom tie rod ends using a set of female heim joints and extensions.

Edit: Just realized that this post was supposed to be a reply in a different thread about RCVs. Sorry for the seeming randomness of it all!

I hope all the top end parts work out for you on your KJ.
But at the end of the day it's still just a Dana 30 up front with minimal flex
    IFS off road system.

You do have a very sweet Off Road Rig dude!
