Is there a way to tell if the engine is original?

Po said it was replaced at 100k but I'd like to know for sure. He said the dealership left the drainplug out and engine seized right away so they put a new one in. I did a carfax on it and it does show an oil change around that mileage and then some repairs done at a dealership. It doesn't specify new engine or anything though. Nothing wrong with the engine and I just work under the assumption that it has 180k as the rest of the jeep. Runs great. I've just always wondered if there's a way to know for sure.

There should be a serial # somewhere on the engine that could be matched to the vin # .

Not sure, was going to give the advice previously mentioned.. but then started to search for where it was and all you can find is Vin decoder information..
Won't help you to go through all the trouble to find out it's the same engine, but still not know if it's specifically the SAME engine.
