Yep, had a neighbor change out my tires by breaking the bead by backing his truck on the tire and then used starter fluid to 'pop' it back on.

Now he works down the street at the local Firestone Dealer!

I've seen friends try that too on the trail. It's way safer to do it with a compressed air cylinder.

Most alcohol probably wouldn't be volatile enough. You need something vaporized that will really expand when ignited.

I knew a guy that died trying that trick to seat a racing slick on a wheel using ether. Rim broke and took off his face. he died instantly.
