Intake air sensor

While trying to pull the intake air temp sensor on my 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited, when pulled (it was a 1/4 turn twist and pull out) it was crumbled with the temp part gone. Crumbled broken gone 20 yr old part. Is that broken piece a problem? It is tiny but gone. I should be able to put a new part in no problem. Do you see any future problems?
