To make some custom tweeter mounts without breaking your old stock tweeter simply go to home depot and get some metal, I think I found mine in the roofing section. Then take a tin snips and cut it as shown:

Then simply install it into the dash as shown.

For those without hardware stores nearby, I thought I'd share how I made a custom mount using common household stuff for a friend's KJ. I used this same method.

Basically, we used the original factory dash speaker and traced the exact shape over a hard, plastic notebook. We cut it out the shape (to every detail) with scissors, traced the tweeter/cut out hole... it mounted back in place perfectly! The tweeters look factory mounted. Some day, if I ever get a chance I'll take picture (if I ever find a reason to open up the dash again).

you can also just cut up the factory speaker and modify it to hold a tweeter, I did this on mine There are a few pics on my carstereo.com link in my sig
